Advantages

Now, it is easier to pass a resume compared to the traditional way of applying for a job wherein each applicant has to go through the company’s office and drop their respective resume. The only advantage of applicants in the past years was the early accommodation. When you have submitted your resume to your prospect employer, you are immediately interviewed and there a possibility that you will be hired if you pass their qualifications.

Disadvantages

On the other hand, in email, you will have to wait for a couple of weeks in order to know whether your application will be accommodated and get forwarded for an interview. There will also come a time that you will not be scheduled for an interview or they have deleted the resume you have submitted on email.

Feel happy because you will learn a lot. If you don’t love the company, you can always back off as long as you don’t have a signed agreement with the company.

Also, even if you are not being paid in a form of money, think of the much higher price that the company gave you and will never get from you. It’s your experience. Most companies are looking for young professionals who have gained a lot of experience. They won’t look on how high you are being paid by your previous company; it’s your experience that counts. But the most important thing here is that you should know if you will receive salary or not.

• Sacrificing friendship for promotion: Strangely, the group found out that about 51.6% said that they would rather sacrifice friendship than forgoing an opportunity. If it will result to promotion, most of the people would not consider the friendship.
• Ulterior motives of making friends: The group also found out that 22% have ulterior motives of making friends. These people think that making friends will help them move the ladder.
• Having friends around made them competitive: Meanwhile, 20.4% said that having friends within your circle make them more competitive.

• Having friends will make you happy: 51.5% agreed that making friends in the circle make them happier.
• Workers prefer manager of their opposite sex: About 25.1% highly prefer a superior from the opposite sex.
• Food as a conversation topic: It seems that the ice breaker these days is no longer the weather. 80.8% of the workers here have food conversations in the workplace.
• Eating lunch with co-workers at all times: You spend most of your time together at work. That means eating lunch together. It was found out that 68.3% of workers here eat lunch with their co-workers most of the time.

It is okay to have friends around but the real secret is to do your best when you are working. You should know when to put a line between your friendship and profession. You should draw the line.

Students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have launched a campaign called Next Stop that seeks to provide resources, stories and tips to aid young adults suffering from Quarter Life Crises (QLC). The campaign was launched on December 20, 2013. Next Stop connects students with internship chances and education tools online.

Not all students know about QLC. In fact, some even do not know they are dealing with it. QLC is often experienced by youths aged 20 years and above. QLC is the time when you are figuring out who you really are and what you want to be. It is important that you learn how to identify QLC. Here are the signs that you are enduring QLC:

• Daydreaming often: If you have frequent episodes of daydreaming, chances are you are experiencing QLC. You are lost because you do not know what you really want in life. You believe that daydreaming can give you an idea of what should be.

• Indecisive actions: You are free to do whatever you want but that is where the crises arise. You are not sure what things to do to the point that you are doubting yourself. If you are uncertain with your actions and choices, you are experiencing QLC.

• Intense fear of failure: Ideally, after college, you are expected to live your life and choose a career that you want to pursue. But you are afraid to give it a try. That is normal but that feeling persists for a long time, you will surely get stuck in your present life.

• Comparing yourself with your friends: If you are constantly thinking about your friends and how far they have gone, you will only sulk or lose that self-confidence. Sometimes you also think about your parents when they were your age. You should overcome it.

• Things are not turning out the way you expect it would be: If you are thinking that things are not turning out the way you expect it would be, you are dealing with QLC. This is probably the biggest sign that you should consider. When you think this way, it is time that you reflect.

It is crucial that you tackle and resolve QLC because it can affect your life. Remember that life is not a race. If you think this way, you will surely haste and that is not a good thing. Finally, you have to gather your courage and redefine yourself.
