Aside from the famous cuisines that Singapore has got from different cultures like Chinese, Malay and Indian, there are more cuisines that haven’t talk about at all times. We all know that Singapore is a country to choose when it comes to food. Apart from its cheap price, you can also get health benefits in eating Singaporean dishes.
Actually, most foods that are served in the restaurants and food chains in Singapore are foods that are mostly changed because other ingredients cannot be seen in the country. And also, it is because of the marketing trends nowadays.
However, nobody can change on how different cuisines in Singapore is served. These are some cuisines in Singapore:
- Peranakan – This is a mixture of Malay and Chinese cuisines which is transported by Peranakans. Pernakans are the biological group of the early Chinese. Peranakans are known to use tamarinds and milks as an ingredient.
- Indonesian – In the past times, Singapore was part of Indonesia. That is why some Singapore cuisines are partly the same with Indonesian dishes such as lumpia, bakso soto, gado-gado, bakmi and more.
- Thai Cuisine – Known for its “balanced flavors”, Thai cuisines usually serves the food that are very delightful. The most popular dishes in Thai cuisines are Kho Phat, Khanom Chin nam ngiao, Nam Tauho, and more. Also Thai cuisine is famous in using spices and herbs like basil, lemongrass, mint, cilantro, galangal, and tamarind.
Clearly, Singapore is called a food paradise because of different tastes and foods in the country. There’s nothing like Singapore. So, when it happen to visit Singapore, try their different dishes and differentiate everything.
